Casa Orgánica was born from a singular vision: to create a space that adapts to people — to their environmental, physical, and emotional needs. Inspired by maternal shelters, caves, igloos, and organic shapes, the home embraces concave architecture as a natural extension of the earth.
Thanks to its curved walls, warm tones, and seamless transitions between floor and ceiling, the house evokes a sense of harmony. In essence, it’s a home that feels like an embrace — a place that remembers a womb. Ultimately, it invites guests to feel protected and grounded, even when far from home.
🧠 The Vision Behind It
Javier Senosiain, one of Mexico’s most celebrated contemporary architects, designed the house in the early 1980s. A pioneer of organic architecture, Senosiain drew inspiration from Gaudí, Frank Lloyd Wright, and Mexico’s natural contours.
Importantly, he believes that buildings should adapt to nature — not dominate it. As a result, his work explores biomorphic forms and raw materials, creating homes that feel almost alive. In fact, Casa Orgánica was one of his first major experiments in harmonious living between people and their surroundings.
Moreover, his other creations — including the now-famous El Nido de Quetzalcóatl — frequently go viral due to their dreamlike, surreal quality. Casa Orgánica, on the other hand, remains intimate, grounded, and poetic in its quiet innovation.
🦈 A Playful Evolution
Originally, the home had just one bedroom. Over time, it was expanded to accommodate a growing family. The new section, accessible through a tunnel, took on an unexpected shape. Because of this, workers nicknamed it “the shark” — and in a whimsical twist, a fin was added to the exterior.
Consequently, the house now embodies both organic softness and a sense of playful creativity.
🌀 A Home that Moves Like Nature
Upon arrival, guests descend a spiral path that leads into the earth. Once inside, the house opens into two primary zones:
- A shared space with a living room, dining area, and kitchen
- A private zone with bedrooms and tranquil bathrooms
Thanks to its integrated furniture and flowing layout, movement through the space feels effortless. There are no corners, no harsh edges — only soft transitions and curved comfort. In turn, this enhances the feeling of serenity and connection to nature.
📍 Location
Just 30 minutes from Mexico City, Casa Orgánica is nestled within El Nido de Quetzalcóatl, an eco-park designed by Senosiain himself. Notably, the park is currently closed to the public. Therefore, guests enjoy a truly exclusive and intimate stay surrounded by nature and sculpture-like structures.
